A most useful drug I know to be so effective especially for men suffering from impotence or erectile dysfunction is Sildenafil Citrate. This is actually better advertised and known as Viagra, but for generic’s purposes, this is the better known name among medical practitioners around the world. This drug was first introduced in 1998 by Pfizer and its release was coupled with a lot of fanfare and media advertisement that in a short time, it was so well known all over the world that there has been none in the world of ED drugs to come up to equal it, not even the release of its competitors namely tadalafil (Cialis) and vardenafil (Levitra) were able to match its popularity. This drug is such a potent erectile dysfunction drugs that men all over the world were really amazed how one little pill can really help them have an erection and maintain it until the end of the sexual encounter. This has garnered praise from all backgrounds of men who have experienced its effects and they can all say that this really gives them the hope that not far in the near future, there is hope that erectile dysfunction can be really cured. As for its mechanism of action, it acts by inhibiting an enzyme, cGMP specific phosphodiesterase type 5, which is the enzyme that controls blood flow in the kidney. It usually lasts aroud 4 hours at most and is to be taken at least an hour before sexual activity for the most beneficial actions. Although some take it less than an hour, maybe 30 minutes at the most, it is all dependent on the resistance of the person to the drug and some can take two 25 mg tablets at once, but sildenafil citrate 100mg is the ceiling dosage as any more than 100 mg might also cause unwanted prolonged erection and this is dangerous as this can lead to permanent penile tissue damage if this goes on more than the 4 hours expected time of effect.
