For men reaching the age of 35 onwards, one of the most worrisome condition to start affecting them at those ages is erectile dysfunction and this is no joke as statistics have proven that in recent times, ED has been so prevalent among these ages and even more so on men 40 and above. This condition is so frustrating for men and those who suffer from it falls into depression, anxiety, lowering of confidence and esteem as they cannot perform normally in relationships and it is a really bad thing to experience for them so just imagine how men celebrated when in the late 90s, a drug finally came out that can alleviate their suffering from erectile dysfunction, and that drug is none other than sildenafil citrate, or as Pfizer released its brand name, Viagra. This drug is so potent that it successfully kept erections in men with impotence for a certain period that they are now able to fulfill sexual intercourse to the full, from forelplay to ejaculation and with an added bonus of even having a longer time to be able to have another round since the drug’s effects can last as long as four hours after intake. This drug comes in a small, diamond shaped tablet, blue colored which makes it unique and where the name the blue pill comes from. This is a prescription drug and should be taken with doctors orders and it comes in dosages of 25 mg, 50 mg and its maximum sildenafil citrate 100mg dose. Doctors usually prescribe initially the 50 mg to first determine a person’s tolerance to the drug and to see if there are any side effects, especially if a person has some underlying other conditions such as hypertension, diabetes or any others and they will lower it or increase it as accordingly per the patient’s tolerance or if it has no reaction to smaller doses. It is to be taken usually at least 1 to 2 hours before sexual activity and though there have been reports that it can be as early as 30 minutes only and still it effectively gives an erection. This is the most celebrated drug for erectile dysfunction and it is quite understandable why as it took such a long time before any medications was really made as effective as this to combat erectile dysfunction and Viagra was able to achieve this from the first moment it came out.
